This Is Your Life

This is your life. It was yours when you were just a little child; when you first came into this world full of potential, only asking for care love and attention. It belonged to you before the world started to tell you another story, and how you should play within it.

This is your life. It was yours before you started to bury your potential, just in case it didn’t fit the story that was being told, and before you surrendered the freedom of being uniquely you. It belonged to you before you became frightened to let the ‘story’ go.

This is your life. It was yours before you started to run, escaping the past, in search of a better future while making your little story bigger. It belonged to you before you sacrificed your inner wisdom and forgot who you are, while in search for a more satisfactory conclusion.

This is your life, so in therapy you’ll get to tell your story, perhaps many times, and why not? You’ve been telling it to yourself, so wouldn’t it be nice if someone else listened? You’re telling it for a reason; perhaps that reason could be to find a way out. So why would I say, “you can come in, but you’ll have to leave your story outside”?

This is your life, so I invite you just as you are, story and all, because all that you have forgotten is not lost. It’s just sitting below the surface, waiting to be found. When you are authentically heard and the story starts to dissolve, it reveals the hidden treasure as well the pain, but within the presence of each other, we can sit with that as well.

This is you life, when you’re ready to let go of the story….

“This is your life” relates to another red book (if you don’t know, Google will tell you), but this red book is about Jung's voyage of discovery into his deepest self. Why not start your own red book, because this is your life.
